Challenge: Writing strong performance reviews is a key career skill that helps employees highlight their achievements, demonstrate value, and advocate for growth. Reviews are most effective when they include measurable results and align with team or company goals. The Career Growth Tracker supports this by helping employees log accomplishments in real time—capturing priority, size, deliverables, and impact—making it easier to write clear, confident, results-focused reviews.
Solution: I designed a 30-minute eLearning course that emphasizes the value of performance evaluations and teaches employees how to write impactful, growth-oriented review statements. The course introduces the Career Growth Tracker, an Excel-based tool for organizing tasks and accomplishments, and a job aid to help users translate tracker entries into strong performance statements.
Organization Goal: Increase the number of performance evaluations rated as “comprehensive” by managers by 50% within 12 months.
Performance Goal: By the end of the course, learners will accurately document tasks, projects, or accomplishments using the provided documentation tool (Microsoft Word/Excel). Learners will write clear, concise, and results-based performance review statement for each entry that aligns with course criteria.
A strong performance review statement is defined as “clear (easy to understand), concise (brief and to the point), and results-based (shows the specific outcome or impact of the work)".
